She grew to womanhood and spent the large share of her life within this community. Read More	THE DuBOIS PRESS, Thursday, December18, 1941 LILLIE MARIE SHINN Lillie Marie Shinn, daughter of Thomas and Mary Shinn was born August 12, 1890 near DuBois and passed away December 9, 1941 at the Pawnee hospital, age 51 years, three months and 27 days. She grew to womanhood and spent the large share of her life within this community. She attended school in a rural district near DuBois, but her education was not limited to this small amount of classroom work, for she continued to learn and grow mentally as her family grew up and she was very anxious to give her children the best schooling she could. She was married to John Musil on June 10th, 1914 at Pawnee City, Nebraska. To this union were born three children: Viola Marie, Ludwig and Robert Thomas. She spent most of her married life near here except for three years when she lived at Belgrade, Neb., later moving back to DuBois community where she spent the remainder of her life in service to her fellowmen, her church, her community and her home. She was a very willing worker with a philosophy of life that stabilized her daily life. She was deeply interested in spiritual things. She loved her home and worked her very best for its happiness and taught faithfully her children in their respective duties. She died beloved by all. She united with the Methodist church of DuBois on December 5, 1926 and remained a faithful and loyal member, being a Sunday school teacher for eleven years and Cradle Roll Superintendent for a number of years, giving freely of her time and talent. Her noblest traits were patience, friendliness and quiet unassuming modesty with always a happy smile for all. Her character lives on in her children. She was a member of the Z.C. B. J. Lodge near DuBois, joining February 18,1912, being a member for 28 years and 10 months. She was confined to her bed for a number of weeks and was cheerful and patient even though we knew her pain was severe. Her challenge was to keep smiling and she did her best to do this very thing. Her advise can be heeded by all. She said "It takes only a few minutes to make a friend and give a cheery word." Her faith was steadfast, her courage noble, and her life a benediction to friend and foe. She leaves to mourn her departure, a loyal husband, and three fine children: Viola Poppas of DuBois; Ludwig, Camp Bowie, Texas, who is a member of Company E 37th Engineer Corps; and Robert, who lives at home. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Elsie Rexroth, of Dawson, and two brothers, Ludwig Shinn of Dawson and Milton Shinn of Pawnee City, besides her aged father and mother of near DuBois and a great number of aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends. May her association with us be continued. The funeral service was held at the DuBois Methodist Church Thursday, December 11, at 1:30 p.m. Mr.Frank Dobrovolny gave a talk in Bohemian, Rev. Webb and Rev. Merrill assisted with services. Rev. Price gave the sermon entitled, "Friend to Man." Merle Strom, sang "Whispering Hope". The choir sang "City of Gold," "Sometime We'll Understand," and "In the Garden." The pallbearers were six cousins of Mrs. Musil: Edmund Yoble, Henry Rakosnik, John Rakosnik, Emil Shinn, Arthur Shinn and Albert Vitek.
