THE PAWNEE REPUBLICAN, Thursday, January 23, 1997 ROBERT THOMAS MUSIL Robert Thomas Musil, 74, Pawnee City, died at the Pawnee Manor on January 16, 1997. He was born on October 10, 1922 near DuBois to John and Lillian Marie Shinn Musil. Robert grew up on the farm where he was born, a mile east of DuBois. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in DuBois and graduated with honors in 1940. Robert entered the army in December of 1942. While in the service, he attended college for officer's training. His college training was interrupted by overseas duty in Europe in 1944. He received an honorable discharge in April of 1946. He returned to the DuBois area where he worked in construction before moving to Grand Island where he worked at the Ordnance Plant making munitions for the Korean War. He married Edna Anna Ullman on February 25, 1952 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Steinauer. To this marriage were born five sons. They returned to DuBois in 1954. Robert worked as a painter in the DuBois community for a couple years until he went to work at Campbell's Soup Company in Tecumseh. He was employed there for 21 years, until his retirement in 1978. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid Husker fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who offered encouragement and advice to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion in DuBois and of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Steinauer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Viola Poppas; and brother, Ludwig. Surviving are his wife, Edna; sons, Robert M. and wife, Tammy, of DuBois; Kenneth and wife, Pat, of Shubert; James of DuBois; Steve and wife, Jane, of Kearney; Raymond of DuBois; and eight grandchildren, Bobby, Michael, Samantha, and John of DuBois; Sarah and Elizabeth of Shubert, and Brad and Brittany of Kearney. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 20, 1997 with Fr. Brad Zitek officiating at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Steinauer. Special music was provided by the church choir. Interment was at the DuBois Cemetery south of DuBois. The DuBois Legion Post conducted a military service at the gravesite.
