Robertson Laid To Rest Lillie Mae Robertson Many hearts throughout this territory were saddened by the sorrowful news that Mrs. George Robertson had succumbed to a series of ailments from which she had been a patient sufferer for the past two and a half years. The end came at midnight, 12 o'clock, July 15, at Simpson, Kansas. Lillie Mae Pearce was born June 19, 1878, at Jefferson, Wisconsin, being at the time of her death aged 55 years and 26 days. At the age of three months she moved with her family to Iowa Falls, Iowa, and remained there until her marriage to George L. Robertson on March 29, 1899, when they located on a farm about five miles north of Simpson. From there they moved to the Robertson ranch one mile north of Simpson where she lived at the time of her death. On May 10, 1931, Mrs. Robertson underwent an operation, her first. In rapid succession she had undergone seven more operations in two years. In spite of her physical trials she always maintained her cheerful disposition, an attribute which during her life had made her many friends and added to the ideal home life, which was evident with the Robertsons, where hospitality and good cheer were wll known attributes. Her pain and suffering were made the easier to bear by reason of the unwavering kindness and care of her husband and other loved ones who left nothing undone that might add to her comfort. Mrs. Robertson joined the Baptist church at Simpson and was baptized July 14, 1932. Her faith was strong and beautiful, although she was never permitted to be active in her church work because of physical disabilities. She was a member of the Mission Circle and Ladies Aid and was active in meetings when her condition would permit. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge for many years. Mrs. Robertson leaves to mourn the departure of a true wife, loving mother, and dutiful sister, and the following: her husband, George L. Robertson; a son, Gordon, of Salina; two daughters, Goldena Jones and Bernice Anderson, both of Simpson; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Strubbings and Mrs. Henry Costello, of Owasa, Iowa; three brothers, Joe and Will Pearce of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Harry Pearce of Beloit, Kansas. She also leaves three grandchildren, George Robert Jones, Shirley Joania and Max Gordon Robertson. To these sorrowing ones the sympathy of the community is freely extended, with the knowledge that her death not only leaves a vacancy in the family that can never be filled but it is a loss to the community. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church in Simpson, conducted by the Rev. J.G. Murphy. Pall bearers were James Robertson, Jr., Gordon Robertson, Hubert Anderson, Wilbur Spicher, Otis McClintock, and Charles Robertson. Interment was made in the cemetery at Glasco. ----- Beloit Call
