Read More	Atchison Daily Globe, Wednesday, 15 June 1921 BETTS FUNERAL TOMORROW The body of Lloyd Betts 34 years of age, arrived in East Atchison this morning, from Kaw, Okla. Betts was drowned in the Beaver river, 13 miles east of Kaw, Monday. With his three brothers, Orval, Lee and Frank Betts, and their brother in law, Lloyd Betts was wading for frogs in the Beaver river, when he stepped into a deep hole in the river, sank, and was swept down stream before his brothers could reach him. Their brother in law had the same experience, but finally succeeded in reaching the bank after he had gone down twice. Lloyd Betts is survived by his wife, and a daughter, Carmen Betts, 9 months of age. His mother, Mrs. E. A. Betts, lives in East Atchison, with a fourth brother, Ed Betts. A sister, Mrs. Sadie Leibrand, lives at Wichita Falls, Texas, and will arrive here this evening for the funeral service. All four of the brothers are also here. The funeral service will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30, at the home of Mrs. E. A. Betts, in East Atchison. It will be conducted by Rev. Arthur Long, of Atchison. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Six friends of Lloyd Betts will be pall bearers James Ellis, Francis Keene, Pierce Funderburk, Charles Pitts, Cyril Sunderland and Milt Carmichael. Lloyd Betts was employed in the oil fields around Peabody, Kansas, and lived in Peabody at the time of his death. He was born in East Atchison until about two years ago, when he moved to the oil fields. To his hundreds of friends and acquaintances he was known as "Brick" Betts.
