Rev. Al Polito officiated at the services. Lois E. Eilers, age 77,of Scotch Grove, died Thursday evening, February 23, 1995 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness. Lois Eileen Kuhns was born February 20, 1918 at Scotch Grove, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lestus and Nellie Henrichs Kuhns. Lois received her early education in the Scotch Grove Schools and completed her education at at Monticello High School. Lois E. Kuhns and Renk E. Eilers were married October 21, 1936 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Scotch Grove area. Lois worked for a brief time at Maquoketa Machine in 1955. From 1960 until 1972 Lois worked in the hot lurch program at the Monticello Community Schools. Her husband, Renk, preceded her in death on April 21, 1978. Lois was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She helped found the Presbyterian Church Pie Committee. Lois is survived by two children, Larry (Ruth) Eilers, Freeport, IL; Judy O'Daniels, Lakewood, CO, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four sisters, Eunice Allen,Celestia Gerdes,Greta Aldrich, all of Monticello,Arlene Holub, Stitzer, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Earl in January of 1978, four brothers and one sister. Casket bearers were Lynn Kuhns, Merle Gerdes, Michael Holub, Merle Kuhns, Phil Tuetken, J.D. Reed. Goettsch Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
