She was born April 14, 1918, in Dunnegon, Mo., to Charles Madison and Tracy Grace (Curl) Mead. She moved with her family at an early age to Murray, where she was raised and went to school. Read More	Lois Ernestine Mead Comstock, 87, of Greeley died Sunday, July 31, at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit, Greeley. She was born April 14, 1918, in Dunnegon, Mo., to Charles Madison and Tracy Grace (Curl) Mead. She moved with her family at an early age to Murray, where she was raised and went to school. She graduated from Plattsmouth (Neb.) High School in 1935 and attended Tarkio (Mo.) College. She graduated from the University of Omaha with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and had advanced classes at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, UNL and the University of Chicago in Reading. She taught for 22 years, first in one-room schools near Plattsmouth, then in Plattsmouth and spent most of her career in the Bellevue Public School system. She married James Floyd Comstock in Murray, Neb., on Dec. 1, 1940. They lived in Murray until 1952 then moved to Bellevue, Neb., where they lived until 1997. In 1997, Mrs. Comstock moved to Greeley to be near her daughter and family. Mrs. Comstock was a former member of the Avery Presbyterian Church in Bellevue. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 189 of Plattsmouth, the Nebraska Education Association and the Bellevue Teachers Association. A Fontenelle Forest Volunteer, she also belonged to many nature clubs. Survivors are a daughter, Mary Lois Knisely and husband Michael of Greeley; Dr. James C. Comstock and wife Barbara of Lake City, Iowa; two sisters, Evelyn Morris and husband Olin of Lincoln, Neb., and Flora Belle Wehrbein of Plattsmouth; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a grandson Charles Wade Comstock, and a brother-in-law, Edward Wehrbein. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Avery Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth.
