Description	:	Lona M. McCallum, 82, lifetime Libby area resident, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at her home in Libby. She was born on April 21, 1921, at Libby, to Edward and Nancy Smith. Raised on the family ranch at Swamp Creek, Lona attended the Swamp Creek School and went to high school in Libby. She married Walter F. (Babe) McCallum on March 10, 1936, at Libby. A gifted artist and avid fisherman. Lona enjoyed both activities throughout her life. She also operated Lona's Ceramics Shop and later Lona's Hallmark Shop, until retiring. Lona was an active member of the Libby Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the Farm Women's Club and the Libby Fine Arts Group. She was preceded in death by her husband Babe in 1974, son Richard (Dick) McCallum in 1990, and daughter Gerianne McCallum in 1995. Surviving are grandchildren Dana Wallace, Troy; Dawn Fifield, Salt Lake City; Dulcie Wallace, Troy; Karrie Jo Clark, Goose Creek, S.C.; Kathi Jo Garrison, Colville, Wash.; Sheila Bartz, Yakima, Wash.; Terry Chittenden, Auburn, Wash.; Kevin McCallum, Chaffee, Mo., and Michael McCallum, Colorado Springs, Colo; sister Monte Magera, Libby, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the City of Libby Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel. Nelson & Vial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Libby Fine Arts Group or the Libby Volunteer Fire Department.
