Description	:	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC (Ararat Community) ~ Mr. Lonnie "Pa" Beck, 86, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him, died Friday evening, March 3, 2000, at his home (Ararat Road) after a long illness. Mr. Beck was born in Surry County on Feb. 1, 1914, to the late John Henry and Annie Sechrist Beck. Mr. Beck was a farmer who enjoyed nature and working outside with family and neighbors. Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC (Ararat Community) ~ Mr. Lonnie "Pa" Beck, 86, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him, died Friday evening, March 3, 2000, at his home (Ararat Road) after a long illness. Mr. Beck was born in Surry County on Feb. 1, 1914, to the late John Henry and Annie Sechrist Beck. Mr. Beck was a farmer who enjoyed nature and working outside with family and neighbors. Pa enjoyed seeing not only crops grow on the farm but his children and grandchildren as well. Pa was always there to help or give a kind word to family or friends. Pa received Ruritan of the Year from the Long Hill Ruritan Club in 1977, 1981 and 1983. He attended Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Surviving are four children, Ruth Tolbert and husband, Roy, the Rev. Ray Beck and wife, Carol, and Russell L. Beck and wife, Barbara, all of Pilot Mountain and Rose Ann Bullington and husband, Wendell, of Pinnacle; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Mary Ruth Arnder of Mount Airy; one half-brother, Dock Beck of Siloam; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Annie Davis Beck, in January of 1996. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Vance Jones, Elder David Edwards and the Rev. Paul Key. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Beck is at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain and will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. The family will receive friends at Cox-Needham Chapel on Sunday, March 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the Beck home, Ararat Road, Pilot Mountain. Memorials may be made in floral tribute to Northern Hospice, 1033 Highway 52 North, Mount Airy, N.C. 27030; or to Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Hulda Jones, 3460 N.C.
