Prior to that he had been employed in the rug and carpet department at the Bradshaw Furniture Store for over 12 years. McClellan was a veteran of World War II; he was a member of the United Methodist Church, Southeast Iowa Peace officers Association, Elks Lodge, Police Reserve, Chamber of Commerce and VFW. Loren G. McClellan was born Sept. 24, 1925 (sic. Sept. 25, 1925 per veteran footstone inscription), in Fairfield. He was the son of Clarence J. and Freda Tygret McClellan. His marriage to Refa M. Stanley took place June 21, 1947 in Jefferson County. She survives. In addition to his widow, McClellan is survived by a son, Stanley, Fairfield; two grandchildren; two brothers, James Loy, Fairfield, and Robert, Rockford, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
