Description	:	My great-grandfather, Lorraine DeTroy Duval, was born on February 23, 1901 in Ventura, California. He was the son of Eugene Winton Duval and Katherine DeTroy Duval. An older sister, Zelta Georgie Duval, was born in 1895. On August 24, 1922, he married his first wife, Elizabeth Bertolette, in Oxnard, California. She was born in 1904 in Pueblo, Colorado, and died on September 15, 1928, less than two weeks after the birth of their first child, a daughter, Denise Elizabeth Duval. On December 24, 1930, he married my great-grandmother, Mariellen "Mimi" Chapman, in Santa Barbara, California, the daughter of John Chapman and Effie Reddish of Bloomingdale, Indiana. Mimi was born on November 19, 1905. On May 2, 1934, my grandmother was born in Santa Barbara. They named her Jenanne Lorraine Duval. My great-grandparents were married until Lorraine's premature passing on June 27, 1946 in Ventura, California. He is buried in Santa Paula Cemetery in Ventura. Obituary: "Camarillo Rancher Dies at Hospital" Death came today to Lorraine D. Duval, [a] 45-year-old Camarillo rancher, at a local hospital where he was being treated for a heart ailment. Mr. Duval, born in Ventura Feb. 23, 1901, has been a citrus rancher in the Camarillo district for the past 28 years. He is survived by his widow, Mary Ellen [sic]; two daughters, Denise and Jeanann [sic]; and a sister, Mrs. Zelta Hill of Santa Barbara. Christian Science services will be read from the chapel of the Skillin mortuary in Santa Paula at 2 p.m. Saturday with interment in Santa Paula Cemetery.
