Description	:	Louise Miller grew up on a farm, married a farmer and liked her role as a wife and mother. To her, cooking, baking and gardening were her hobbies because she enjoyed doing them so much. Read More	Louise Miller grew up on a farm, married a farmer and liked her role as a wife and mother. To her, cooking, baking and gardening were her hobbies because she enjoyed doing them so much. When she had spare moments, she would crochet or embroider, making pretty items for her home or to give as gifts to someone. When she and her husband Frederick moved into Selby, she took an active part in the community as a member of the United Church of Christ, a charter member of the UCC Women's Fellowship, and was a member of the Town and Country Extension Club. After Frederick's death on July 7, 1964, Louise remained in Selby. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Selby in 1997. She died at the center on Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the age of 95. Louise, the daughter of Louisa (Eippert) and Johannes Maier, was born July 26, 1911 in Mound City, where she grew up and attended a rural school. As a young woman, she helped on the family farm until her parents moved into Selby. On Oct. 8, 1831, Louise married Frederick Miller in Selby and they made their first home on a farm near Selby. Later, they moved into Selby where Fred owned and operated Miller Insurance and Real Estate. Surviving are four daughters, Donnis (Henry) Huft of Bowdle, Janice (Ray) Sandmeier and Joyce (Robert) Van Orman, all of Mobridge, and Judy (Fred) Badure of Davenport, Iowa; 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Luella Miller of Selby; and a sister-in-law, Betty Miller of Denver, Colo. In addition to her husband, Fred, Louise was preceded in death by her father on April 2, 1939, her mother on Sept. 29, 1953, one son, Palmer, one sister, Emma Bossert, four Beiderman half-siblings, John, Elizabeth, Henry and Fred, and 12 Maier half-siblings, Jake, Christine, Fred, Christ, Katherine, Rose, Matilda, Carolina, John, Bertha, Pauline and Gottleib. Funeral services for Louise will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at the Selby United Church of Christ with Pastor Susan Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Selby Memorial Gardens with Lien Funeral Home of Bowdle in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers are Kirk Miller of Selby, Todd Miller of Sioux Falls, Brad Badure of Davenport, Wade Badure of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Kevin Sandmeier and Timothy Sandmeier of Rapid City. Honorary bearers will be the staff of the Good Samaritan Center in Selby and Dr. Ben Henderson of Mobridge.
