Description	:	Lucinda Schroder, daughter of Carson and Margaret Schroder, was born March 23, 1852, in McDonough county, Illinois, and passed away at her home in Huntley, Nebraska, Sunday, October 29, 1933, at 2:10 a.m., at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 6 days, after an illness of several months. She was a faithful attendant of the Union Baptist church at Salem and at the time of her death was a member of the home department of the M.E. Sunday school at Huntley. Read More	Lucinda Schroder, daughter of Carson and Margaret Schroder, was born March 23, 1852, in McDonough county, Illinois, and passed away at her home in Huntley, Nebraska, Sunday, October 29, 1933, at 2:10 a.m., at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 6 days, after an illness of several months. She was a faithful attendant of the Union Baptist church at Salem and at the time of her death was a member of the home department of the M.E. Sunday school at Huntley. She as a good, true, faithful and conscientious Christian. Her Christian influence will be long remembered by those who associated with her in her home. She was married to George S. Skiles, March 23, 1876. To this union were born seven children, two of whom died in infancy, and Fred, who passed away April 8, 1923. She, with her husband moved to Harlan county, Nebraska, February 1, 1878 locating on a homestead 4 ½ miles northwest of Republican City, where they made their home until 1912 when they moved to Huntley, where they resided until the time of her death. Besides her husband she leaves four daughters, Mrs. William Porter, Mrs. J.E. Smith, Mrs. F.W.N. Brown, all of Huntley, and Mrs. W.H. Teaford of Republican City; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mell Skiles of Huntley; and 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers besides other relatives, a host of friends and neighbors to mourn her death. For what is home without a mother, Without her kind and tender care, We only know when she is gone, What is home without her there, Earth has lost its look of gladness, Heaven seems to us more bright, Since the spirit of our dear one Took her happy, homeward flight. And we long to cross the river, Long to rest upon the shore, There to see, and know, and love them, With the Savior, evermore. Weep not that her toils are over. Weep not that her race is run, God grant we may rest as calmly, When our work like hers is done. Till then we yield with gladness, Our mother to Him to keep, And rejoice in the sweet assurance, He giveth His loved one sleep. The funeral was conducted from the Huntley Methodist church Tuesday, October 31, 1933. Burial was made in the Republican City cemetery. Services were in charge of Rev. Fry.
