Published in The Alma Record (Alma, NE) Fri, Apr 13, 1923 William Fredrick Skiles only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Skiles (sic) was born at Industry, McDonough County, Ill. March 22, 1877 and departed this life at his home near Huntley April 8, 1923 aged 46 years and seventeen days. Practically all of his life was spent in Harlan county, as he came here with his parents in infancy. He professed faith in Christ in early manhood and united with the Union Baptist church and has since lived a life which those left to mourn his departure may do well to copy. He wsa (sic) married March 22, 1905 to Melissa J. Sellers and to this union were born five children, one son and four daughters, Harold, Vernon (sic), Mildred, Sylvia and Carol, who with their mother live to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father and devoted husband. He leaves also his father and mother and four sisters, Mrs. William Porter, Mrs. James Smith, Mrs. Frank Brown and Mrs. William Toaford (sic) all of this community and many other relatives and friends and neighbors who mourn his departure. The funeral services were held at the house Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Burress of the Alma Methodist church and interment was made in Bainbridge cemetery. The large concourse of friends and neighbors and the many and beautiful floral offerings testified to the esteem and respect in which he was held. A good man and kind neighbor has departed from our midst and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and deal with him.
