Description	:	Lucy Belle Robertson was born in St. Joseph MO. It is told that her family owned a plantation and were slave holders. Miss Lucy was cared for by a mammy and never had to comb her own hair till she moved out to the wild west. She married John Rhudy and they moved to Colorado. She was a beautiful young woman 10 years younger than John. When she became ill she said she wanted to go home to St. Joseph to the Mammy who had taken care of her from birth. Miss Lucy was cared for by a mammy and never had to comb her own hair till she moved out to the wild west. She married John Rhudy and they moved to Colorado. She was a beautiful young woman 10 years younger than John. When she became ill she said she wanted to go home to St. Joseph to the Mammy who had taken care of her from birth. Her wish was fulfilled and she died there in St. Joseph. She was buried in St. Joseph but later moved to Elbert and is buried with her husband John. The grave stone reads: John Rhudy, Belle his Wife. She may have died from a goiter in her neck. She was about 5'5" tall, hair was worn long and twisted on top of head most of the time. Hair color was brown, fair complexion.
