Description	:	Lula Kness Maranello was born to Charles Kness and Frances Osborn Kness on January 14, 1892, at McCool Junction. She was one of nine children in the family. She was a gentle, kind, and conscientious mother, who... Read More	Lula Kness Maranello was born to Charles Kness and Frances Osborn Kness on January 14, 1892, at McCool Junction. She was one of nine children in the family. She died on June 21, 1978, at Marin County hospital in San Rafael, Cal., at the age of 86 years, five months and seven days. She attended the Fairmont public schools. In October, 1911, she was married to Charles Maranello of Fairmont, and to them four children were born. They farmed in the Fairmont area until 1936. She was a gentle, kind, and conscientious mother, who made many willing sacrifices while raising her family. Lula moved to California in 1942, where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, and had been an active member of the San Rafael Senior Citizens Goldenairs. She enjoyed reasonable good health until her last illness. Until her hospitalization June 14, she maintained her own home, enjoying the care and company of her flowers, church and limited social activities. Lula was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Helen Kotzbeck; an infant granddaughter, Janice Frazier; one sister, Mabel Real and two brothers, Bert Kness and John Kness. Those who mourn her passing include: three children, Floyd W. of Exeter, Leslie and wife Anne of Sunnyvale, Cal., and Dorothy Frazier and husband, Earl of Fairmont; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Oliver Kness of Fairmont and Walter Kness of Grafton; three sisters, Mrs. Jane Morris of Oakland, Cal.; Mrs. Stella Foster of Mill Valley, Cal., and Mrs. Ellen Nevin of San Rafael, Cal.; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community church at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 26, with Rev. Jay Vetter officiating. As a duet, Mr. and Mrs. Federal Bridgman sang "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "What a Friend," accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Swartz. Pallbearers were George Hassler, Albert Lott, Raymond Hall, Don Nichols, Claude Lefler and Cecil Swartz. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
