Description	:	Bert William Kness, son of Charles and Sarah Frances Kness, was born September 29, 1883, in Milledgeville, Ill. He passed away at the York General Hospital November 27, 1964, at the age of 81 years and 2 months. At the age of seven, he came to Nebraska with his parents. They settled on a farm in York County. Read More	Bert William Kness, son of Charles and Sarah Frances Kness, was born September 29, 1883, in Milledgeville, Ill. He passed away at the York General Hospital November 27, 1964, at the age of 81 years and 2 months. At the age of seven, he came to Nebraska with his parents. They settled on a farm in York County. At the age of 15 Bert was confirmed in the English Lutheran Church in McCool. In 1904 the family moved to a farm near Fairmont, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Millie Bach, October 23, 1907. To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. Loyd (Florence) Knox of San Jose, Cal., Mrs. Claude (Lucy) McDonald of Fairmont and Mrs. Matthew (Louise) Wilson of Lincoln; two sons, Charles, who preceded him in death in March, 1939, and Ralph of San Jose, Cal. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lula Maranello of San Rafael, Cal., Jane Morris of Oakland, Cal., Stella Foster of Mill Valley, Cal., and Ellen Nevins of San Rafael, Cal; two brothers, Oliver of Fairmont, and Walt of Grafton; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mable Real, who passed away in September, 1962 and a brother John, who passed away a number of years ago. He was a kind and loving husband and father and was always doing good deeds for others. He will be sadly missed. He was active in the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Fairmont until he developed poor health a few years ago. He has been a member of the lodge 37 years. He was custodian of the Fairmont public school building several years and a friend of every child. He was always ready to help a neighbor or friend. Funeral services were held at the Federated Church in Fairmont. Rev. Stuart Maynard officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Federal Bridgman sang "Going Down the Valley One by One" and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Miss Linda Smith. Pallbearers were Lloyd Broman, Don Galusha, Francis Jacobsen, Ralph Keil, Ralph Letfler and Paul Rasmussen, all of Fairmont. Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery with I.O.O.F. services at the grave. The Nebraska Signal 10 December 1964 Lot owner: Bert Kness
