Description	:	Oliver H. Kness was born to Charles F. and Sarah Frances Osborn Kness on August 19, 1889 in Carroll County, Ill. He passed away April 15, 1980, at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 27 days. Kness was born to Charles F. and Sarah Frances Osborn Kness on August 19, 1889 in Carroll County, Ill. He passed away April 15, 1980, at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 27 days. He moved to Nebraska with his parents at the age of one, where he lived his remaining years. On February 12, 1913, Oliver was united in marriage to Lutie Maranello. To this union six sons were born: Donald, Twins, Gaylor and Gerald, Wilton, Kenneth and Dale. "Bum" as he was known by his many friends, farmed in the surrounding area until 1948, when he and his wife moved into Fairmont where he continued to work at various occupations. Bum enjoyed traveling and enjoyed music all his life. He was still playing his violin until two weeks before his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bert, John, twins,Gaylord and Gerald; sisters, Mabel Real and Lula Maranello; and his wife, Lutie. Survivors are sons, Donald and his wife, Cleo of Hutchinson, Kas., Wilton and his wife, Arlene, of Polo, Ill., Kenneth and his wife, Bonnie of Fairmont, Dale and his wife, Germaine of Battle Lake, Minn.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter of Grafton; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Morris of Oakland, Cal., Mrs. Stella Foster, Mill Valley, Cal., Mrs. Ellen Nevin, San Rafel, Cal.; many nieces, nephews and friends. Services were held April 17, 1980, in the Fairmont Community church with the Rev. Jay Vetter officiating. Pallbearers were Raymond Hall, Alfred Jorgensen, Ralph Keil, Russell Snodgrass, Harold Smith Jr. and Claude Lefler. Organist was Mrs. Marvin Swartz, vocalists were A.J. Anderson, Marvin Roper, Federal Bridgman and Marvin Swartz. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
