Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 8 May 1929 Mrs. Lydia Louther Called to Eternal Rest The entire community was shocked and grieved to learn of the passing of one of the most beloved of Fort Benton's women, Mrs. Lydia M. Louther, who passed away at St. Clare hospital about 5 o'clock Saturday evening. Few knew of the illness of Mrs. Louther until the announcement of her death which cast a pall of gloom over the entire city. Mrs. Louther was taken sick Thursday and late Friday night she was removed to the hospital where it was found an operation was necessary immediately. It was soon learned there was little hope for her recovery and death relieved her suffering early Saturday evening, May 4th. Mary Lydia Elliott was born in Canaan, Kansas, March 22, 1870, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Orlando Elliott. She spent many of her years of life in Kansas. She was married to William H. Louther at Fort Scott, Kansas, Dec. 28, 1888, and to this union were born four children, one son passing away at an early age. The other children are: Paul K., of this city, deputy county clerk; Lieut. Karl K., who is stationed with the marines on Paris Island, S. C.; and Miss Harriet A., who is attending the state university at Missoula. Besides the children she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Harriet E. McDermid, of Kimberly, Idaho, and Mrs. Augusta E. Romig, of Hanson, Idaho. The Louther family came to Fort Benton from Kansas City, Missouri, in 1914, and has since that time made Fort Benton their home, Mr. Louther passing away at Lewistown, Mont., in Sept. 1922. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Dan W. Brown, pastor of the Christian church, of which she has been a loyal and devoted member for the past 13 years, will have charge of the services at the home, while the services at the grave will be conducted by the members of the Eastern Star lodge, of which she was also a member. She was a member of the Fort Benton Woman's Club and of the Kensington Club. Interment will be made in Riverside cemetery beside her husband. The relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss.
