She was baptized in the Little Sioux Valley Lutheran church Jan. 4, 1891, by Pastor Otto Ottosen. She renewed these vows in confirmation at Trinity Lutheran church Nov. 24, 1904. Read More	Additional information provided by Judy O Obituary for Mable Rokkan, transcribed from the Storm Lake Pilot Tribune, Storm Lake, Iowa, page 8, Wednesday, 09/29/1971: Mable Rokkan, daughter of Anton and Gurina Gulbrandson Rokkan, was born in Buena Vista county, Barnes township, near Linn Grove Oct. 24, 1890. She was baptized in the Little Sioux Valley Lutheran church Jan. 4, 1891, by Pastor Otto Ottosen. She renewed these vows in confirmation at Trinity Lutheran church Nov. 24, 1904. She attended the township schools and grew to womanhood on the farm where she was born and spent her entire lifetime there caring for her parents and brothers and sisters until they retired and moved to the present home in Sioux Rapids. It was here that on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1971, she was called to her eternal home at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 28 days. Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Arthur, Carl and Elmer, a sister, Ellen, and a niece. Family Survivors: Surviving are two brothers, Sigfred of Sioux Raids and George of Kennewick, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Florence Colby of Sioux Rapids, three nieces, three nephews and other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed in the church and her community. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran, the A. L. C. W., and a charter member of the Eastside Birthday club all of Linn Grove. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran church in Linn Grove with Pastor Raymond Poppe officiating. Mrs. Stanley Patterson was the organist. Mrs. Elaine Grapenthin sang “How Great Thou Art” and the congregation sang “Nearer My God to Thee” and “Children of the Heavenly Father”. Bearers were Leroy Hanson, Richard Herrig, Nelvin Nelson, Milo Patterson, Ernest Sundberg and Fred Woodhouse. Burial was in Barnes township cemetery near Linn Grove. Sliefert funeral home of Sioux Rapids in charge of arrangements.
