Description	:	Margaret Anna Mooney was born May 20, 1920 in Malvern, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Louise (Menschel) Leu. She was called home by her loving Savior on Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 at the North Care Hospice in North Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 1 day. Read More	Margaret Anna Mooney was born May 20, 1920 in Malvern, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Louise (Menschel) Leu. She was called home by her loving Savior on Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 at the North Care Hospice in North Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 1 day. Margaret grew up in Malvern and graduated from the eighth grade at Golden Hill Country School. On February 12th, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lowell Samuel Mooney at the parsonage of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hastings, Iowa. This union was blessed with six children, Gary, Carolyn, Joann, Marilyn, Larry and Kindra. She lived on numerous farms in southwest Iowa before moving to Shenandoah in 1965. Margaret worked in the banking department of Henry Field's Seed and Nursery Company in Shenandoah for 26 years. After Henry Field's closed, she and her daughter, Carolyn, worked together babysitting and cleaning homes till her retirement. Margaret was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah and participated in the church's numerous activities. She was a hard worker who enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren in different parts of the country, cooking, baking, gardening and caring for her flowers. Her true love was her family and many friends. Her personal strength, faith and endurance was an inspiration to anyone who met her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell; her daughter, Joann Mooney; son, Gary Mooney; a brother, Robert Leu; sisters, Leona Turner and Esther Razler. Survivors include her children, Carolyn Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, Marilyn Abbott and her husband Joseph of Johnson City, Tennessee; Larry Mooney of Liberty, Missouri and Kindra Mooney of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Shawn Smith and his wife Leslie of Grover, North Carolina, Ryan Smith and his wife Susan of Shelby, North Carolina, Joseph Abbott Jr. and his wife Ellen of New York City, New York, Gabriel Abbott and his wife Allison of East Greenville, Pennsylvania and Matthew Abbott and his fiance' Brandi Kalisek of Nashville, Tennessee; four great grandchildren, Kodie Powers and his wife Brandy of Shenandoah, Iowa, Justin Smith of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Gracie and John Abbott of New York City, New York; two step great grandchildren, Savannah Beam of Concord, North Carolina and Andy Beaver and his wife Kris of Shelby, North Carolina; three step great great grandchildren, Riley Helms and Gracie Beam of Concord, North Carolina and Andie Jo Beavers of Shelby, North Carolina; a sister, Elizabeth Grindle of Malvern, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Colleen England of Kent, Washington; along with many nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
