Description	:	Margaret Clara Walker, 104, of Boone, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in Des Moines, Iowa. Margaret was born to John and Caroline (Blaess) Lutjen at the family farm on June 9, 1917. She grew up on the farm between Boone and Stanhope and worked hard helping both her mom in the house and her dad doing fieldwork. That strong work ethic lasted throughout her life. However, there wasn't... Read More	Margaret Clara Walker, 104, of Boone, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in Des Moines, Iowa. Margaret was born to John and Caroline (Blaess) Lutjen at the family farm on June 9, 1917. She grew up on the farm between Boone and Stanhope and worked hard helping both her mom in the house and her dad doing fieldwork. That strong work ethic lasted throughout her life. Margaret was an excellent student, and she graduated from Stanhope High School as the Valedictorian in 1932. She attended Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI), where she thrived. However, there wasn't enough money to pay tuition beyond the first three months, and her college career ended! She returned home and began teaching at a nearby one-room school. Thus began her career as a teacher….an occupation she didn't love. Margaret married Harold Moeller in 1940, and they enjoyed their life on their 160-acre farm until Harold died in a farming accident in 1967. They were blessed with two children, Lyle and Elaine. In 1971 Margaret married John Walker, and they lived in Stanhope, where she worked as a bank cashier. She would have continued that career until her death if computers hadn't entered the picture, pushing her to retire in her 80's! Margaret moved to her apartment at the Eastern Star Home in Boone shortly after her 100th birthday, and she enjoyed her friends and activities there. Margaret loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus, and she enjoyed serving in various ways in her churches. She was part of the group making quilts for missions and the Braille Ministry while at St. Paul's in Webster City. Her desire was that others would know Jesus as their Savior, too. She liked to help others, taking meals to those in need and visiting shut-ins. She was a loving, involved mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She was pre-deceased by husbands Harold Moeller and John Walker; son Lyle Moeller; grandson Eric Thomson; brothers: Ray, Dean, Lester, and Kenny Lutjen; and stepdaughter Nancy Putz. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Rich) Thomson; daughter in law Nancy Moeller; grandchildren: Chris Thomson, Scott (Katie) Thomson, Karen (Joe) Peterson, Matthew (Johnna) Moeller, Sara, Brian, and Nathan Moeller; step-children: John (Pam) Walker, Steve (Mitsuko) Walker, Randy (Susan) Putz; six step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Boone County. Interment will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery following the funeral service. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Boone. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Boone or Mission Central in Mapleton, Iowa. Online condolences can be left at www.schroederfuneral.com
