Matejka was born to William Watmore and Alice Stephenson Watmore on March 3, 1909, at Geneva and passed away July 11, 1988, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 8 days. She was one of six children in the family. Margaret spent her entire life in Fillmore county. Her early years were spent on the farm, and then later in Geneva where she attended Geneva High School. Matejka was born to William Watmore and Alice Stephenson Watmore on March 3, 1909, at Geneva and passed away July 11, 1988, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 8 days. She was one of six children in the family. Margaret spent her entire life in Fillmore county. Her early years were spent on the farm, and then later in Geneva where she attended Geneva High School. She and Jim spent 58 years in the same house in Geneva. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Margaret was married to James S. Matejka of Geneva on February 1, 1930, and to them two sons were born. Margaret was a 50-year member of the Congregational Church and a member of the Women’s Fellowship. She loved flowers and grew many different varieties which she enjoyed sharing with her friends and neighbors. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Watmore, and two brothers, Willard and Gene. She is survived by her husband, James S. Matejka; two sons, James R. Matejka of Geneva and John C. Matejka of Truro, Ma., Cape Cod; two brothers Howard Watmore of Tucson, Az., and Bill Watmore of Geneva; a sister, Mildred Maier of Geneva; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, July 14, with the Rev. Charles Schepel officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Kelly Eich who sang “The Lord’s Prayer”. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Elznic, Bert Lynn, Gary Maier, Ronald Maier, Merlin Ritchey and Larry Warrelmann. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal July 21st, 1988, page 5.
