Description	:	WATMORE, WILLIAM, SR. — William Watmore Sr. of Geneva passed away at the York hospital Saturday evening, January14, 1961, aged 86 years, 8 months and 4 days. He had been in good health until a few days before, when he became ill of flu and was taken to the hospital. He was making a good recovery when a sudden heart attack proved fatal. Read More	WATMORE, WILLIAM, SR. — William Watmore Sr. of Geneva passed away at the York hospital Saturday evening, January14, 1961, aged 86 years, 8 months and 4 days. He had been in good health until a few days before, when he became ill of flu and was taken to the hospital. He was making a good recovery when a sudden heart attack proved fatal. William Watmore was born on a homestead near Shickley, Neb., May 10, 1874, the son of James and Vicella Watmore. He spent his early boyhood and attended country school there. He and his brother, Walter, farmed together southwest of Shickley. In 1900 his family moved northeast of Shickley, where his father passed away in 1901. He was married to Alice Stephenson of near Geneva January 3, 1906. The first two years of their married life was spent on a farm north of Geneva. The family then moved southeast of town, where they lived for many years. In 1951 they retired from the farm, moving into Geneva. He is survived by his wife Alice; sons, Howard S. and William R.; daughters, Margaret Matejka and Mildred Maier; two daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed of Fairmont; and a sister, Mrs. Ora Riel of Geneva. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two sons, six brothers and one sister. Services were held at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home at 2 p. m. Wednesday, January 18. Rev. Robert J. Kasper officiated. Ralph Reemts sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Ivory Palaces.” Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Ross Brown, John Burt, Fred Madison, LeRoy Miles, Donald Larson and Frank Naimon Jr. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
