Read More	PINE STREET RESIDENT DEAD Mrs. Margaret Daugherty Died At Hospital Sunday Morning FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD TUESDAY Mrs. Margaret F. Daugherty, one of the city's best known residents, died at the McCready Memorial Hospital last Sunday morning, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of 83 years. For a great many years Mrs. Daugherty, known to her neighbors and friends and to the public generally as Mrs. "Ran" Daugherty, lived at her home on Pine street. It was there that she raised her family of boys and girls, and was a good neighbor and friend to all with whom she came into contact. Her husband, the late Charles 0. Daugherty, was a blacksmith by trade, and manufactured dredges and scrapes and other appliances for the many boats that made Crisfield their home port and others that came from distant points for the fine workmanship for which the Daugherty establishment was well known. Mrs. Daugherty was primarily a home maker, and her home and family were her joy and pride. Two daughters and three sons were raised there, and Mrs. "Ran" acted more or less as foster mother to many other children in the neighborhood. She was held in high esteem and regard for qualities of thoughtfulness and helpfulness, a good neighbor and a fine friend. As long as she was able she attended services at Immanuel Methodist Church and thoroughly enjoyed her church association. Of late years her health had been poor and most of her time was spent in her home, where her son, the late George Daugherty, who died several months ago, resided with her. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Julany Dize, and a sister of Mrs. Angie Gould and the late L. Cooper Dize. Funeral services were held at her home on Pine street Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 oclock conducted by her pastor, Dr. Melvin E. Wheatley. Interment was beside the body of her husband in the Crisfield cemetery. The profusion of lovely floral pieces and the attendance at the funeral were eloquent testimony of the place she occupied in the hearts of relatives and friends. Surviving her are two sons, Mr. C. Hubbard Daugherty and Mr. Carlysle Daugherty, one sister, Mrs. Angie Gould, and several grandchildren. The Crisfield Times, October 27, 1944 pg.1
