BALL PASSED AWAY TODAY Mrs. George W. BALL died at her home north of this city this morning about eleven o'clock after an illness extending over a period of several months. She has been in frail health for the past five years but it was only recently that relatives began to fear the parting. Mrs. BALL was about 82 years of age and was born near Brookville (sic. not necessarily in Brookville, though), December 7, 1850. She was the daughter of Harvey and Mary LAUGHLIN who were early settlers in the county. On October 31st, 1872, she was united in marriage to George W. BALL and with her husband has shared the honors that were bestowed upon him by Jefferson county people in twice sending him to the State legislature. Since 1896 they have lived at their present home north of the city. Mrs. BALL was the mother of six children, one of whom, Harvey, died in 1883. Four sons, Charles F., Joseph L., Harry I. and William N. and one daughter Mrs. Day HUNT, all of this city, together with their father survive. Mrs. BALL was a faithful member of the First Baptist church at Brookville, and later became a member of the First Christian church of this city and was a woman greatly beloved by all who knew her. She was deeply attached to her home and her family, and yet found time to be a good neighbor and a kind friend to all who knew her. The funeral services will be held at the home at ten o'clock Friday morning.
