Hattan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Hattan of Nelson, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Tuesday, June 7, at 10 a. m. Rev. Gregory Petros officiated at the double ring ceremony and was celebrant of the Nuptial High Mass which followed. During the Mass, Winifred Foust sang "Ave Maria" and "O Lord I Am Not Worthy" accompanied by Leona Skalka. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a traditional gown of white slipper satin with a styled sweetheart neckline and a fully shirred bodice. The long, tight fitting sleeves tapered to a point at her wrists. The gathered skirt swept into a long train. Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion fell from a tiara of orange blossoms. Her only jewelry was a single strand of pearls. She carried a white rosary, a gift of the groom, and a white prayer book topped with red roses and stephonatas from which fell showers of rose buds and stephonatas with white ribbon streamers. MissKathryn Mazour, attending her sister as Maid of Honor, wore a gown of salmon pink marquisette with raffles forming the sleeves and neckline with a matching ruffle on her skirt. Miss Mary Ann Mazour, a cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore an identical gown of ice blue. They wore matching halo head dresses made of net and tiny flowers. Each carried a white satin fan to which was attached a corsage of Talisman roses and yellow carnations. Dwight Adamson served the groom as best man and Richard L. Myes (sic) as groomsman. Wilbur D. Hattan, brother of the groom, and Jerome Mazour, cousin of the bride, were ushers. All wore carnation boutonnieres. The bride's mother chose to wear a gray crepe, and the groom's mother chose to wear black print bemberg. Both wore corsages of white carnations. A reception following the ceremony was held for 85 guests in the Deweese Community Hall which was decorated with white, pink and blue streamers and white bells. Mrs. Lester Mitzner was in charge of the guest book, and Mrs. Edgar Johnson cut the wedding cake. The bridal table was centered with a three-tier cake, which was baked by the groom's mother, topped with a miniature bride and groom. A dance was held in the evening honoring the couple. After their trip to Kansas City, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Hattan will make their home at 142 North 18, Lincoln, Nebr. Mr. Hattan is a student at the Dental College and is a member of the Xi Psi Phi fraternity. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Hattan was the Deputy County Treasurer of Nuckolls county (sic). ============================================= The Hays Daily News (Hays, KS), Thursday, January 24, 2013 Margaret Hattan, 85, Concordia, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. She was born Dec. 30, 1927, in rural Deweese, Neb., to James and Clara (Barta) Mazour. She was a 1945 graduate of Nelson High School. She married Hubert "Hugh" Hattan on June 7, 1949, in Deweese. He preceded her in death Feb. 25, 2009. After graduating high school, she worked at the office of the county treasurer. She later worked for Continental Oil Co. in Lincoln, Neb. In July 1952, they moved to Concordia where he started his dental practice with Dr. C.J. Whitney. She was involved with Jaycee Jaynes (president), Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls (council president, plus leader and other board positions). She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for almost 50 years and served as regent and other offices. She was a member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the CCHC Auxiliary. She served as president and on other committees and as a member of the Altar Society and two bridge clubs. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Greg Hattan and wife, Janice, Concordia, Richard Hattan and wife, Patti, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Dr. Mike Hattan and wife, Carla, Hays; two daughters, Susan Kittrell and husband, Steve, Washington, and Linda Logan and husband, Ron, Olathe; two sisters, Kathryn Murtaugh and Cecilia Mazour, both of Lincoln, Neb.; her grandchildren, Justin and Jennifer Hattan, Brett and Brandon Logan, Jessica (Hattan) Christensen and Paul Hattan, Holly and Ross Hattan; and her great-grandchildren, Alexander and Benjamin Christensen and Colin Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant sister, Mary. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; burial in St. Concordia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. An Altar Society rosary will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Brown Grand Theatre in care of the funeral home.
