Description	:	Mrs. Margaret McKown Livingston Mrs. Margaret McKown Livingston was born in July, 1847. She was married In January, 1867 to John Brice McKown. About two years after their marriage they came to Emerson, Iowa. Mr. McKown was engaged in business in Emerson for twenty-five or thirty years — part of the time in his own grocery and was for many years in the store with Mr. West. They raised a large family of children and buried two little girls here. Mr. McKown died at Pender, Nebr. in 1908 and in April of 1916 Mrs. McKown was married to Alexander Livingston who died... Read More	Mrs. Margaret McKown Livingston Mrs. Margaret McKown Livingston was born in July, 1847. She was married In January, 1867 to John Brice McKown. Mr. McKown was engaged in business in Emerson for twenty-five or thirty years — part of the time in his own grocery and was for many years in the store with Mr. West. Mr. McKown died at Pender, Nebr. in 1908 and in April of 1916 Mrs. McKown was married to Alexander Livingston who died in Kingsley, Iowa, March 2, 1923. Mrs. Margaret McKown Livingston died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. B Collings in Los Angeles, Calif. February 5, 1926. Mrs. McKown was a Charter member of the Presbyterian Church of Emerson. Sne was a good Christian woman and her family filled a pew in the church very faithfully. Having a sister who was a missionary in Egypt she was devoted to missionary study and work. She and Mr. McKown cared for his parents in their old age. She had a sweet disposition and was a very kind and patient mother and a good neighbor. It seemed very fitting and very beautiful that she should be laid to rest in the community where she spent so many years of her young womanhood. She was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps which organization attended her funeral in a body. She is survived by the following children and friends all of whom were present at the funeral, except Roy of Long Beach, Calif.: Ronald R., and Clyde A., of Creighton, Nebr., Merele C. of Miller, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. James H. of Columbus, Nebr.,Mr. & Mrs. Ada Ruhl of Grand Island, Nebraska and Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Colling of Los Angeles, Calif,, also Mr. M. H. and Mrs. C. H. Patterson of Harlan, Iowa, and Mr, H. W. and Mr, N. J. Carder of Red Oak, Iowa. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in Emerson, Wednesday afternoon at 2 p. m, Services were conducted by the pastor. Rev F. A. Helzer. Mr. and Mrs, R. R Honeyman and Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Honeyman sang. Mrs. Roscoe Parker played the organ. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery. Malvern Leader, Thursday, February 18, 1926
