Howland died at her home in this city Tuesday morning at about eight o’clock. During the past two months her constitution gradually gave way to the influences of the complication of diseases until the time came when she was no longer able to withstand the strain and the slender chord of life was broken, taking from the husband, daughter, and sons a kind devoted Christian wife and mother whose home and loved ones were the delight and satisfaction of her life. Margaret Waterman was born in Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, April 28, 1836 and was the second of ten children, When thirteen year of age she moved with her parents to Purport, Ohio and when twenty-three ears old was married to Joseph Howland. To this union were born six children, of whom five, the daughter, Mrs. J. S. Jackson and four sons, who’s names appear below, survive their mother and were all with her during her last hours. The other child died in infancy. Mrs. Howland was a resident of our city from 1871, and she will be missed not only by the relatives but by a circle of friends embracing all who knew her. Those from a distance who are here to attend the funeral, which will be held this afternoon at two o’clock from the Presbyterian Church, are Mrs. Kittie Skankland of Lincoln; Dr. B. M. Howland and family of Melbourne, Iowa, B. J. Howland and wife of Fargo, North Dakota; S. P. Howland of Houston, Texas, P. L. Howland and wife of Shambaugh, Iowa, and J. S.
