OBITUARY: Pocahontas Democrat, Pocahontas IA, Thursday, 9 Jan 1919, pg.1 Obituary of Mrs. Fred Wilson We mentioned briefly last week the death of Mrs. Fred Wilson of Morgan, Minnesota, another victim of the influenza and a former resident of this place. Maggie Schott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Schott, was born in Chicago, June 28, 1881, coming with her parents to Iowa in 1899. On January 7, 1908, she was united in marriage to Fred Wilson of Fonda. After their marriage they resided for a year on a farm near Varina and for three years on a farm between Fonda and Sac City. They then lived west of Pocahontas until four years ago when they moved to Morgan. Mrs. Wilson was ill for eleven days, the husband and children being sick at the same time. Her mother who was visiting at Maynard, Minn., arrived a few days before her death, which occurred Tuesday, Dec. 31. The remains were brought to this place for burial last Thursday, accompanied by Mrs. Schott, as no members of the Wilson family were able to be in attendance. They were blessed by Father Wagener and interment made immediately in Calvary cemetery. Besides the husband she leaves to mourn her loss, four small daughters, Louise, age six, Loretta, age five, Veronica, age four and Rose, age two; her mother, Mrs. Louise Schott, three brothers, Chas., Will and J. V. Schott, and one sister Mrs. Mary Persing of Milbank, S. D. Mrs. Wilson is the fourth member of this family, who has been taken in the past fourteen months, the father, sister Anna and brother Joseph, also a nephew, Cletus Schott, having been buried from this home. The passing of a mother is sad, indeed, and sadder yet when the children left are so young and need a mother's guiding care. She was a kind and loving mother and wife and her sudden demise is only another of the mysteries to be explained. The relatives have the sympathy of the community and especially the grief stricken mother who has had so much sorrow thrust upon her in such a short time. Transcribed by Teresa Davis
