Maag, age 88, pioneer resident of the Camp Creek neighborhood, died at 12:40 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughters, Mrs. George Kuhn, 509 Parallel Street, from a heart attack suffered late Monday afternoon. Mrs. Maag had enjoyed comparatively good health the past few years in spite of her advanced age. She loved to work and was active right up to the time of her fatal illness. Mary Agnes Moeck was born October 6, 1847 at Willmandigen, Wurtemgerg, Germany, coming to America as a young woman in 1866. On March 7, 1867, she was married to Jacob Ulrich Lauffer. Seven children were born to this union. Three of the seven are still living. They are Jacob Lauffer, Valier, Mont., William J. Lauffer, 509 Park Street and Mrs. George Kuhn. Her first husband died January 26, 1883 and Mrs. Lauffer was married to Henry Maag of Netawaka, February 20, 1890. Mr. Maag died May 28, 1927. Mrs. Maag spent most of her life on the family farm in the Camp Creek neighborhood. She had lived with Mrs. Kuhn for the last 10 years. Besides her three children she is survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. All of her life, Mrs. Maag, devoted most of her waking hours to her work and in making her family comfortable. She was a good mother and loyal and kind friend to all who knew her. She was a member of the Evangelical church. The body will be at the Sawin & Douglass Parlors until the funeral which will be held in the Sawin & Douglass Chapel at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. The services will be conducted by the Rev. M. J. Steinmetz, pastor of the Evangelical church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Contributor: Rainbow (47002487)
