Shors died at her home here Sunday at 1:15 p.m. following a long illness. For the past two years she had suffered with heart trouble and she had been confined to her bed for about ten weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at S.S. Peter’s and Paul’s church. Rev. Father W. P. Hyland officiated at the requiem mass. Pallbearers were Frank Nedved, Chas. Wolfe, F. O. Schroender, James Hronek, Sr., Anton Poduska and M. H. Hammes. Interment was in Calvary cemetery. Mary Sedlacek, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sedlacek, pioneer settlers of Pocahontas county, was born on a farm in Center township January 6, 1886. She attended Sacred Heart school and grew to womanhood in this vicinity. On Jan. 7, 1902, she united in marriage with John C. Shors in Pocahontas. They established their home on a farm east of this city and resided there until March 1, 1914, when they moved to town, and have resided here since. Three sons and one daughter were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shors. One son, George of this place, and Mrs. Martin Alexander of Webster City, with their father, survive. Two sons, Charles William and Louis Edward, preceded their mother in death. Mrs. Shors is also survived by four grandchildren, Eugene and Gerald Alexander, and John and Susan Shors, four brothers, Tony, Joe, Mike and James Sedlacek, all of this place. Mrs. Shors was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Besides taking care of the needs of her own family she always found time to be a friendly neighbor, and to give assistance to those in need. She was a devout Catholic and a life-long member of S.S. Peter’s and Paul’s church. Until her health failed she was an active member of the local American Legion Auxiliary. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Alexander and family of Webster City, Frank Shors of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Joe Hippert of Wilmont, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Sernett of Fonda, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shimon, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Will Sernett and Mrs. W. Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hronek and F. Hood, all of Rolfe, Mrs. Mary Sedlacek of Chelsea, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Roberts of Havelock and Mr. and Mrs. J. J.
