Description	:	Mrs. Marie Gerken was born in Holstien, Germany, August 22, 1863. She died at General Hospital in Geneva, Neb., December 4, 1942, after a short illness. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, to which she remained faithful until the end. She was united in marriage to William Gerken November 5, 1882. There were born to this union two daughters and four sons. Read More	Mrs. Marie Gerken was born in Holstien, Germany, August 22, 1863. She died at General Hospital in Geneva, Neb., December 4, 1942, after a short illness. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, to which she remained faithful until the end. She was united in marriage to William Gerken November 5, 1882. There were born to this union two daughters and four sons. One son, Walter, departed this life in infancy. the remaining daughters and sons are Mrs. Amanda Bohlen of Grafton, Mrs. Emma Biester, Theodore and Emil of Geneva and Ernest of York. Mrs. Gerken came with her husband to this country and settled near Fairmont, Neb., in April 1886 for a short time. Later they lived near Grafton on a farm until they moved to Geneva in 1924. She was preceded in death by her husband, April 21, 1940. Mrs. Gerken is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a gentle, kind woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The funeral was held Monday, December 7, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Grafton, Rev. G. Mueller officiating. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal December. 1942 Mother. Lot owner: William Gerken.
