Murphy, 69, of Holiday Lake, Brooklyn, who died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at the University Hospitals in Iowa City. The Rev. William B. Daylong, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated, and the organist was Marilyn Kriegel. Special selections were "Peace in the Valley," "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Wind Beneath My Wings." Flower attendants were Carolyn Crosson, Mary Godwin and Mary Jo Adams. Casket bearers were Terry Rhinehart, Ron Adams, Larry Stambaugh, Bob Godwin, Danny Murphy and Mike Murphy. Interment was in Kent Cemetery, Brooklyn. Marigold Lucille Winograsky Murphy, daughter of Harry Winograsky and Lucille Crosson Winograsky, was born May 11, 1930, at Eddyville. She was known to her family and friends as Mari. She was a graduate of the Eddyville High School and attended Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. While attending the beauty school, Mari worked as a nurses' aide. On Feb. 25, 1950, Mari was married to Thomas Evan Murphy at Kirksville, Mo. They lived at Ottumwa, then in Des Moines, where Mari worked as a beautician for Dorothy's Beauty Shop in the Highland Park area. In 1978 they moved to Holiday Lake, Brooklyn. Since 1988 she has been employed by Nevenhoven Funeral Services and worked with Mary Jo Adams at Mane Attraction in Malcom. Mari was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Women's Club at Holiday Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died Aug. 8, 1988. Surviving are her three children, Mike and his wife, Linda, of Des Moines, Teresa Marquardt of Des Moines, and Danny of Brooklyn; and her five grandchildren.
