Read More	The Plattsmouth Journal, October 5, 1914, Page 6: DEATH IN OMAHA OF A FORMER PLATTSMOUTH LADY A message was received in this city last evening announcing the death at her home in Omaha of Mrs. Martha Hayward, a former resident of this city where she resided for along period of years. Mrs. Hayward was a sister of the late Calvin H. Parmele and resided here before her second marriage, being the wife of Willitt Pottinger, a pioneer resident of Plattsmouth, and one of the prominent residents of the state at that time. Mr. and Mrs. Pottinger removed from this city in the early Seventies to Utah, where Mr. Pottinger served as territorial governor for a term of years, and later removed back to Plattsmouth, where they resided until the death of Mr. Pottinger, quite a number of years ago. Mrs. Pottinger then made her home with her son in Omaha, until her marriage to Mr. Hayward some years ago. Since living in Omaha, Mrs. Hayward has been a frequent visitor here, and is quite well known to almost all of the older residents of this city. It is thought that the body will be brought here for interment in the family lot in Oak HIll cemetery, but as yet the arrangements have not been completed. Mrs. Hayward was seventy-four years of age and leaves two sons and a daughter to mourn her death. The Omaha Daily Bee, October 7, 1914, Page 3: BODY OF MRS. HAYWARD TO BURIED AT PLATTSMOUTH The body of Mrs. Frank Haward, who died at her residence in the Wright block in Omaha Sunday, aged 74 years, was taken to Plattsmouth yesterday to the home of her nephew, Q. K. Parmele. Rev. H. G. McClusky will conduct the funeral services Wednesday, and interment will be in a grave beside her first husband, Judge Pottinger. They were pioneer residents of Plattsmouth, where their four children, John C. Pottinger, Mrs. Charles F. Gaylord, Hoyt and Hayes C. Pottinger of Shell Lake, Wis., were born. The Plattsmouth Journal, October 8, 1914, Page 1: THE LATE MRS. MARTHA HAYWARD IS LAID TO REST The funeral of the late Mrs. Martha Hayward was held yesterday from the home of her nephew Q. K. Parmele on South Seventh street and was attended by a large number of the friends of the former years who gathered to pay their last tributes of respect to a lady long known and loved by them during her lifetime in this city. The services were in charge of Rev. H. G. McClusky of the First Presbyterian church who spoke words of comfort to the sorrowing family and held out to them the example of the Christian life of the departed lady. There was a wealth of floral remembrances laid on the bier of the departed lady that expressed stronger than words the esteem and affection in which she had been held here by the old residents of the city who had known her in the summer of her life. The interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery in the family lot beside that of her first husband Willett Pottinger who passed away here a number of years ago.
