Description	:	Martin was the son of James Howe-(1799-1856), and Temperance Brown-(1818-1897). His siblings were: Jefferson, Letetia, James Bodkin, Lucinda Jane, Archibald, Sylvester, Sophia C, Charles Wilbert, Phoebe J, and Henry Massary. Martin served in the Civil war between 1861-1865. (See detail on right). On November 4, 1873, Martin married Sarah A Starr in Jackson, Ohio. From this union were born: Matilda-(1874-1968), John V-(1876-1966), Lucy-(1879-1880), and James M-(1881-1971). In 1885 he divorced Sarah Starr Howe. She moved back home to Ross County, Ohio and took her son John V. Martin went to the U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Leavenworth,... In 1888 a new Soldiers home was opened in Dayton, Ohio, so Martin moved there until 1891. In 1892 he married Jane Rachel Maple in Jackson, Ohio. They had a daughter, Anna M, who was born in 1894. Martin had to go back to the soldiers home in 1903 and then died in Jackson, Ohio in 1909.
