Description	:	Marvin Emil Hartman, age 92, of Pawnee City, Nebraska died Sunday morning 10 April 2011 at Pawnee Manor. He was born on October 31, 1918 to Henry Fred and Wilhelmina Louisa Maria (Poppe) Hartman in Nemaha County, Kansas. Marvin and Lucille moved back to Pawnee City about 1977 after his retirement at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah as a Logistics Supervisor for 28 yrs. He greatly enjoyed his work and earned many awards from his career. Marvin... Read More	Marvin Emil Hartman, age 92, of Pawnee City, Nebraska died Sunday morning 10 April 2011 at Pawnee Manor. He was born on October 31, 1918 to Henry Fred and Wilhelmina Louisa Maria (Poppe) Hartman in Nemaha County, Kansas. Marvin and Lucille moved back to Pawnee City about 1977 after his retirement at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah as a Logistics Supervisor for 28 yrs. Marvin had previous employment at Wright Patterson Field, Fairfield, Ohio. It was then called Army Air Corps and then renamed United States Air Force. He greatly enjoyed his work and earned many awards from his career. Marvin had numerous hobbies, including woodworking and leather craft. He entered several of his projects in the Utah State Fair and won 1st place. He was quite proficient and took great pride in his craftsmanship. While living in Utah he and Lucille engaged in the business of raising chinchillas. He raised an exotic breed of black chinchillas. He was elected President of the Utah Branch of the Empress Chinchilla Breeders Co-op. He served 4 yrs in that office. Marvin was an avid baseball fan. He followed the different teams and was given a St. Louis Cardinals hat from his great-grands which he treasured. Marvin was survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 yrs. Lucille (Wissler) Hartman. One son, Ronald M. (Susie) Hartman of Semmes, Alabama. Two Grandsons Ty Hartman of Mobile, Alabama. Terry (Valerie) Hartman of Hillsboro, Missouri. 2 Great Grandchildren Lauren S. and Bradley G. Hartman, along with other relatives and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Fred and Wilhelmina Louisa Maria (Poppe) Hartman, four brothers, Christ, Fred, Carl and George Hartman, two sisters Anna (Hartman) Lear and Katie (Hartman) Marsh. George Hartman was a great influence in his life and was like a Dad to him after their Dad died. Memorial Services 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Friedens UCC Church, rural Bern, Kansas. Officiating Reverend Ken Tubessing. Register book will be available for signing on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Inurnment Friedens UCC Cemetery, rural Bern, Kansas.
