He had worked as a draftsman for Excel and Full Vision, and for Marion County driving the maintainer. He and his wife were foster parents to over 125 children. He was born April 23, 1923 in rural Goessel the son of Frank W. and Mary Flaming Banman. He had worked as a draftsman for Excel and Full Vision, and for Marion County driving the maintainer. He and his wife were foster parents to over 125 children. He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel. On August 29, 1947 he married Elma Unruh in Goessel. She passed away on June 14, 2013. Survivors include his daughters, Darla Banman (Gary Lyndaker) and Elaine Banman; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul in infancy, Ewald, and Arnold; six sisters, Edna Schmidt, Clara Voth, Wanda Salvatierra, Pauline Peters, Hulda Thiessen, and Helene Holland. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Friday, November 8, 2013, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel, with Pastor Linda Ewert officiating. Inurnment followed the service at Alexanderwohl Cemetery, Goessel. Memorials may be sent to either MCC or Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel.
