Obituary Mauslein—Mrs. Mary Adelaide Mauslein, daughter of U. R. and Katie Nott Welsh was born at Horace, Nebr., July 20, 1898. With her parents at the age of nine she moved to Texas, the family came to Brown county, Kansas in 1914 settling in the Bethel community in Padonia township. Following her graduation from the Hiawatha High school, she taught three years in the rural schools of Brown county. She was united in marriage with Lawrence Mauslein, Hiawatha, Kans., March 6, 1921. Three children were born to this union. Following their marriage they have lived within a few miles of their first home community. She passed away early Tuesday morning, December 29, 1953. She leaves to mourn, her husband and three children, Mrs. Matthew Johnson, Rapid City, S. D., Dale Mauslein stationed at the United States Naval air base, Jacksonville, Fla., Lucille Mary, Denver, Colo., four grandchildren, Lawrence Johnson, Michael Johnson, Mary Jane Johnson, Rapid City, S. D., Allen Dale Mauslein, Jacksonville, Fla., two sisters, Mrs. David Lortscher, Bern, Kans., Mrs. William Bumpus, San Diego, Calif., one brother U. C. Welsh, Manut, N. J., her aged grandmother, Mrs. George Nott of Hiawatha, numerous nieces and nephews, many other relatives, friends. Her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Jessie White, Mrs. Verda Gordon, two brothers, George Richard Welsh, Orion Welsh preceded her in death. Funeral services were held January 1, 1954, at the Zion Methodist church in Robinson. Interment was at the Hiawatha cemetery. —The Hiawatha Daily World (Hiawatha, KS) Wed. Jan 6, 1954, p.2.
