Description	:	OBITUARY NOTICE FROM THE SPARTANBURG HERALD JOURNAL Mrs. Alice Wilson GAFFNEY -- Mrs. Alice Searcy Wilson, 80, a resident of Spartanburg for some 40 years, died Friday at 10:30 at Cherokee County Hospital following an illness three weeks and a year of declining health. Mrs. Wilson was born in the Chimney Rock section of Rutherfordton County, N. C., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Searcy. Her husband, Benjamin Wilson, died April 14, 1926. Mrs. Wilson lived for many years at Hayne and for four years resided with her granddaughter, Mrs. Helen Posey McHugh, formerly of the Herald-Journal staff, on Langdon Avenue. The past eight years she had lived with Mrs. McHugh in Westchester County, N. Y., and with a grandson, George Bishop on Marlboro Road, Spartanburg. She became ill while visiting a daughter, Mrs. J. B. Lee, of Gaffney. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. C. W. Bishop of Clinton, Mrs. S. B. Higgins of Gaffney, Mrs. Lee and Roy Wilson of Sanford, Fla.; a brother, Thurmond Searcy of Asheville; 10 grandchilden; 11 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home by the Revs. Clarence Hampton and Stanley Hardey. burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery near Forest City, N. C. Pallbearers will be T. A. Smith, Oscar White, Albert Clary, Willie Harris, E. D. Gibson, Paul Whiten, Mason White and B. O.
