Albert was the name listed on her son's (Daniel Baxter Rippey's) death certificate. Prior to her marriage in the 1850s to John Wesley Rippey, Mary had married Johnston Underwood on December 29, 1843, in Orange Co., NC. Their daughter, Margaret A. Underwood, married William Riley Morris in Orange Co. on September 13, 1865, but later moved to Carroll Co. By the time the 1880 Census was taken, William Riley Morris had died. Mary's six children with John Wesley Rippey were born between May 11, 1855 (Daniel Baxter Rippey), and May 9, 1863 (twins James Henry and Sarah Ellen Rippey). The other three children were: John Bundy Rippey (b. October 3, 1956); Mary Catherine Rippey (b. December 25, 1859); and Emma Roxie "Roxie Ann" Rippey (b. May 7, 1861). There is also uncertainty about Mary's demise; she was a widow on the 1880 Census and no longer alive in 1900, but no record of her date of death survives.
