The Concordia Daylight, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1888, page 3: Sudden Death -- Peculiar Co-Incident, Etc. Mrs. Mary Baker, of Glasco died suddenly at the Revere House in this city Thursday morning. This case is a peculiarly sad one. Her husband Mr. Abbott was drowned in the Solomon river on his farm near Glasco about two years ago. She afterwards married Mr. Baker who was also drowned near the same place last July. Mrs. Baker was troubled with heart disease and her physician advised her to go on a visit to friends in Nebraska. She had started on her return from Nebraska and arrived here on the K.P. train Wednesday evening when a physician was quickly summoned. He gave some medicine and called again in the morning and pronounced her better, but within an hour from the time he left she was dead. Her brothers, Messers. W.W., D.W. and James Teasley came in answer to a telegram and took the remains to Glasco, where they were interred Friday in the family burial grounds. She leaves four children, a widowed mother, and a large family of brothers and sisters to mourn her sudden and untimely death. Deceased has been a resident of this county for over twenty-two years, and was universally beloved and respected by all who knew her.
