Late last evening a message was received here announcing the death of Mrs. Adam Kurtz at Plainview, Neb., where she had for several months been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Boltz. Mrs. Kurtz had been in poor health for several years past, and since the death of the husband in February, 1916, she had failed very rapidly, and made necessary the abandonment of the home in this city, and had since resided with her daughter. The departed lady had made her home in Plattsmouth since 1888, and had been a lady universally loved and respected by those who knew her best and one that in her case of home and family found her greatest joy and happiness, and to the children who are left behind the death of this kind and loving mother will be deeply felt. The body of Mrs. Kurtz will be brought to Plattsmouth Thursday evening and the funeral services will be held Friday, but the place of the services or the hour cannot be determined until the arrival of members of the family to complete the arrangements. The departed lady was a member of the Women’s Relief corps and of the Daughters of Rebekah lodge of this city. ''''''''''''' The Plattsmouth Journal, May 28, 1917, p. 1, col. 6 FUNERAL OF MRS. ADAM KURTZ THIS MORNING From Friday’s Daily. The body of Mrs. Adam Kurtz arrived last evening from Plainview, Neb., where she passed away Tuesday evening, and was taken to the Masonic temple, where the funeral services were held this morning at 10 o’clock. A large number of the old friends and neighbors gathered at the hall to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the memory of the departed, who for so many years had been a faithful and devoted friend. The services were in charge of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which Mrs. Kurtz had been a member during her lifetime, and the beautiful ritualistic service of the order was conducted by the officers and members in bidding the last earthly farewell to the sister who would meet them no more. Rev. J. H. Steger, pastor of St. Paul’s Evangelical church, spoke a few words of consolation and comfort to the sorrowing family and friends in the loss that has been visited upon them. The choir of St. Paul’s church gave two of the well loved hymns, “Jesus, Lover of My Soul,” and “Abide With Me,” during the course of the service. The body was laid to its last long rest in Oak Hill cemetery beside that of the husband.
