HENRY FRANKLIN GRIMES Mary Catherine Cain, daughter of Daniel and Priscilla Cain, was born in Monroe county, Iowa, Aug. 25, 1848 and passed away at her home in Lucas county on Feb. 25, 1930. Here she grew to young womanhood and was united in marriage at the place of her birth to Henry Franklin Grimes, Oct. 31, 1873. To this union six children were born, Sidney A. of Hemingford, Neb., George N. of Melrose, Iowa, and Estella Vanbenthuysen of Hillsdale, Wyoming. The husband and three sons, Virgil, Ira and Franklin E., preceded her in death. The two sons were present at the last sad rites, the daughter being unable to attend. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons, a daughter, nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Samuel Jacob Cain, of Lovilia, Iowa. She was very highly esteemed by all who knew her, and was devoted to her home and seldom left it. She joined the Baptist church at Lovilia, Iowa in young womanhood and remained faithful to that belief. She was a member of the Bethel U. B. Ladies Aid for many years and in her passing away the community has lost one of its pioneers. Funeral services were held at Bethel U. B. church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Ralph C. McKray, and supported by a choir from the Russell church. The remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Bethel cemetery.
