Mary Kathryne Noack was born Sept. 14th, 1866, to Mr. and Mrs. P.S. Noack, in Mallory township, near Osterdock, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ben Morley on the 11th day of Sept., 1888. To this union were born six children, who mourn the loss of a beloved mother. Delbert of Osterdock, Iowa; Sam and Arthur at home; Mae Schaal residing near Osterdock; Opal at home and Harold at Osterdock; also the bereaved husband and one grandchild, Fay Morley. She also leaves to mourn her death, her aged mother, Emily Noack, four sisters and five brothers: Mrs. George Kauffman of Colesburg, Iowa; Mrs. John Becker of Millville, Iowa; Mrs. J. C. Kickbush, Mrs. John Morarend, Garrison, Charles, James, Will and Peter, all of Osterdock. Her father and two brothers, Sam and Fred, preceded her in death, some time ago. She passed away on Thursday evening Aug. 28th, 1924, at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 14 days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Aug. 31st, at the family residence. Rev. D. D. Welch officiated. The flower girls were the Misses Viola and Carrie Noack, Malinda and Opal Noack, Leona Burr and Martha Backes, Arneita Ball and Mandelein Kauffman, Deloris Noack and Fay the little granddaughter. The casket was borne by George Marty, Loyd Kickbush, Gayland Noack, Henry Willman, Howard Noack and Kenneth Kickbush, all nephews of the deceased. Interment was made in the City Cemetery at Guttenberg, Iowa. She will be sadly missed by all. Gone but still in our hearts. Mary Catherine Noack Sept. 11, 1888, in Guttenberg. Mary C. Noack b. Sept. 14, 1866, in Mallory Twp., the second child of Peter S. and Emiline Bowman Noack (see article). Ben and Mary lived in Osterdock a few years and then moved on a farm northwest of Osterdock. They were the parents of six children: Delbert, Samuel H., Arthur G. Mae E. m. Fred E. Schaal, Opal E., and Harold. (See each of their articles.) Mary d. Aug. 28, 1924. Ben m.#2 Lizzie Voss and later was divorced. Ben m.#3 to Frona McSperrin Penhollow, widow of Ernest Penhollow. Fronie b. Jan. 4, 1872, daughter of Wm. McSperrm. She d. March 25, 1943, and buried in the Bethel Cemetery. Ben m.#4 Dec. 21, 1946 to Anna M. Horstman, widow of Fred Horstman (see article). Ben drove a model-T Ford car, loved to fish the creeks and also play cards. Ben d. Dec. 12, 1952, two days before his 86th birthday. Ben and Mary are buried in the Guttenberg City Cemetery. Arthur Garrison Morley b. Dec. 29, 1896, in Jefferson Twp. He never married. Arthur and his sister, Opal, made their home together all their life. Opal Carrie Morley b. Jan. 10, 1901, in Jefferson Twp., never married. They operated a Standard Service Station in Guttenberg from 1925 to 1932. They Arthur helped build the Lock & Dam No. 10 in Guttenberg in 1932. Opal ran a small cafe to help feed the men. Arthur and Opal moved to Dubuque, Ia., in 1936. Arthur was employed at the John Deere plant until his death. Opal was cashier at the Diamond Cafeteria for 15 years. Arthur d. Sept. 17, 1959; Opal d. Feb. 23, 1979. Are buried in the Morley family lot at Guttenberg City Cemetery.
