Description	:	Mary Elizabeth Miller was born in Macoupin County, Illinois, February 28, 1861, and departed this life at her home in Chester, Nebraska, Tuesday evening, November 26, 1940 aged 79 years, 8 month (sic) and 28 days. When about three years old the family moved to a farm near Gardner, Grundy County, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. She finished high school in the city of Gardner. Read More	Mary Elizabeth Miller was born in Macoupin County, Illinois, February 28, 1861, and departed this life at her home in Chester, Nebraska, Tuesday evening, November 26, 1940 aged 79 years, 8 month (sic) and 28 days. When about three years old the family moved to a farm near Gardner, Grundy County, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. She finished high school in the city of Gardner. Her vocation was a rural schoolteacher before her marriage. In 1882 she was married to Stephen R. Walker, locating on a farm near Gardner. In the spring of 1884, they came to Nebraska, locating on a farm two miles east of Chester, known as the Alfred Lindsey. The next spring they moved to their farm near Hubbell, living there until 1919 when they moved to Chester. To this union four children were born, Myrtle H. Tietsort of Chester, Robert S. Walker of Hubbell, Nebraska, Guy F. Walker, who died in infancy, Verna Mae Sell of Chester. In the spring of 1894 she and her husband united with the rural Christian Church in the neighborhood, working in that church until 1908, when they placed their membership in the Chester Christian Church and remained faithful til death. Her husband preceded her in death on January 21, 1927. Those left to mourn are her brother Wm. Miller of Hebron, Nebraska, hr (sic) children Myrtle H. Tietsort, Robert S. Walker, Verna Mae Sell, and Glenn O Walker (NOTE: typed as written in newspaper), eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
