Her death was unexpected and she was ill but a short time. Mrs. Martin was a lifelong resident of the Glasco community, and the widow of Roy Martin who died in 1953. Active in church and community affairs, she was a member of the Eastern Star, and a life-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Glasco. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Courtney; two sons, Max and Dick, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 1958 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Merle Moebus officiating. Interment was in Glasco cemetery. Glasco Sun, Aug. 7, 1958, page 1: Obituary of Mrs. Mayme Martin Mayme Studt was born May 28, 1887, to Adam and Margaret Studt, and died July 27, 1958, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 29 days, having spent her entire life in the Glasco community. Her mother died when Mayme was a few months old, and she lived with her grandparents until her father's remarriage. She and her brother, Leo, were tenderly and lovingly cared for by her step-mother. Mayme was married February 24, 1910, to Roy D. Martin. Three children blest this union, Margaret, Max and Richard. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leo, her mother, her father, her step-mother, and her husband. Besides the three children, she is survived by five grandchildren, Bill, Dixie, Vicky Jo, Michael and David Martin; her son-in-law, Howard Courtney; daughters-in-law, Lorene and Sue, who loved her as their own mothers; three aged aunts, her mother's sister, Mrs. Clara Pinkall, and her father's sisters, Mrs. Emma Spicher, and Mrs. Caroline Romeiser. So reads the brief resume of a long and beautiful life. It would take volumes to record the events, the good deeds, the blessings of what this life brought to all who came into contact with her. Her hospitality was unbounded, her home was a mecca to friends and relatives from far and near. Little children adored her, and the aged leaned on her in their helplessness. She had an innate love of the beautiful in all phases, music, art, nature. Her hands were never idle and her feet were ever swift to carry her on errands of kindness. Her passing has left a void in our lives that can never be filled. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith when a small child and was a consistent member of the church throughout her life and reared her family in the same fine tradition. She was a teacher in the Sunday School almost continuously, since a very young girl. Through great physical suffering, through all her bereavements, her faith in the goodness and mercy of God, never wavered, never faltered. She was an example and an inspiration to us all. We are sure at the last she heard the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
