Description	:	Mary Helen Doggett, daughter of Charles and Maude (Smith) Ritterbush, was born November 9, 1912, rural Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 30 days. Read More	Mary Helen Doggett, daughter of Charles and Maude (Smith) Ritterbush, was born November 9, 1912, rural Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 30 days. Helen graduated from Nelson High School in 1930 and attended Teacher's College in Lincoln for two years. She taught at Pleasant View School north of Nelson. June 2, 1934, she married John Petty. To this union three children were born. John and Helen were in the cafe business until John's death on April 6, 1953. Helen later operated the Hilltop Cafe in Superior for 15 years. December 23, 1972, Helen married Cleo Doggett. They lived in Chicago for several years before returning to Nelson. Helen was a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ and the Nelson American Legion Auxiliary. She was a past member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Nelson Rebekah Lodge. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John; and a brother. Survivors include her husband, Cleo Doggett of Nelson, Nebraska; two daughters, Mrs. Rollan (Mary Ellen) Culbertson and Mrs. Paul (Willa Mae) Schutte, both of Nelson, Nebraska; one son, Charles David Petty of Charleston, South Carolina; one stepson, Glenn Doggett of Chicago Ridge, Illinois; one stepdaughter, Dixie Seddon of Winslow, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 15 stepgreatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, February 11, 2000, at 2 p.m., at the Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Music was "The Lord's Prayer" and "In The Garden" with Ruth Watts as soloist and Virginia Drohman as organist and accompanist. Pallbearers were John Schutte, Tom Dahl, Allen Schutte, Mike Culbertson, Royce Schott and Mike Lynch. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Olson, Jim Menke, Bob Frahm, Larry Thornberry, Russ Snyder and Gordon Meyer. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
