Mrs. Mary Coverdale, of near Windfall, died at the home of her son, Clem Coverdale on the Sam Mitchell farm, Sunday evening at 8:30 o'clock. Her death being due to infirmities of advanced years, she being eighty years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Coverdale was a native of Ohio, she having been born in Ross county Ohio. Her parents being Samuel Richhart and wife, they coming to Indiana in 1835 and located in Hamilton county, Ind., where they were well known and were among the pioneer people who settled in that section of the state. The parents dien in that county. The deceased was married to Clemen Layton, in Hamilton county in 1859, the husband dying in 1861. There being two children by that marriage, one dying in infancy and the other surviving at this time. She is Mrs. Roy Hinds, of Greentown. Mrs. Layton was united in marraiage for the second time to Eli Coverdale, he dying three years ago. There were three children by the second marriage. They being Clem Coverdale of this county, and Mrs. William Campbell of this county, and Boze Coverdale of Anderson. She is also survived by two stepchildren, they being William Coverdale, of Mich. and James Coverdale of Noblesville. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Coverdale had been living with her children. During the past year or so her health had been poor but she was not confined to her bed until a few days ago and she grew gradually worse. The deceased was a devout member of the Methodist church, she having joined at the Nevada church in 1859 and was held in the highest esteem and greatest respect by all who knew her. She was a kindly pioneer mother, noted for her kindly nature and she leaves many friends to grieve her death. The funeral services will be conducted at the Nevada M.E. church Tuesday at 10 o'clock, Rev. Jones, of Windfall officiating and the interment will be at the Nevada cemetery.
