Description	:	**Handwritten: Rec-Rep. 20 April 1944 MARY CHANNEL MERCER Mary Magdalene Channel was born near Douds, Iowa, July 21, 1852, and departed this life April 7, 1944, at her home near Douds, at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 16 days. She was the fourth child of the ten children of George and Rachel Channel, all of whom preceded her in death. She was married on Oct. 10, 1872 to James W. Mercer, and to this union were born ten children, three of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Mercer passed away March 27, 1935. She was a member... Read More	**Handwritten: Rec-Rep. 20 April 1944 MARY CHANNEL MERCER Mary Magdalene Channel was born near Douds, Iowa, July 21, 1852, and departed this life April 7, 1944, at her home near Douds, at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 16 days. She was the fourth child of the ten children of George and Rachel Channel, all of whom preceded her in death. She was married on Oct. 10, 1872 to James W. Mercer, and to this union were born ten children, three of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Mercer passed away March 27, 1935. She was a member of the Methodist church. She leaves to mourn her passing six children, Alva Mercer of Gibroy, Calif., Mrs. May Nelson of Canton, Mo., John and George at home, Ed Mercer of Packwood, Iowa, and Mrs. Margaret Stewart of Fairfield, Iowa; also 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was a wonderful mother and home maker, and has led an active and useful life. She has done most of her own work until the last few months, and knew her family and friends until the day she died.
