She is remembered by many relatives and friends here as Mary Petty, daughter of Mrs. Ora Petty and the sister of Mrs. Harold Smith and Mrs. Frank Adams. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, June 10, 1965 Mary B. Petty was born in Eldorado Springs, Mo., Feb. 4, 1903 daughter of David S. and Ora Petty. At an early age, she moved with her parents to Nelson, Neb. where she received her schooling and grew to womanhood. On Aug. 4, 1923, she was united in marriage to William Bardsley of Nelson. They had a son, Richard, who also survives. In 1928 they moved to Wauneta, living first in town and about ten years later moving to a farm southeast of Wauneta, where in 1950, Mr. Bardsley passed away. Mary was first a member of the church in Wauneta, but for the past 15 years was a vital part of the Mt. Zion fellowship. She had served the church so faithfully in worship, in work and in sacrifice. On Aug. 12, 1953 she was united in marriage to William McBride, and her new home was on a farm not far from her first farm home. Her health began to fail in early fall of 1964, and following surgery in early December, her strength ebbed away. The end came in the hospital at Stratton, Saturday evening, as the day was fading into night. Her immediate survivors, in addition to her son, Richard, and his wife, LaVina, and their two children, include her husband, William McBride; her mother, Mrs. Ora Petty, Nelson, Nebr.; her sisters, Mrs. Helen Smith and Mrs. Maude Adams, also of Nelson; one uncle, Roy Kelly of Seal Rock, Ore. Her father and one brother preceded her in death. There are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends far and near. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, June 17, 1965
